COMMENDATIONS

Bone County Sheriff’s Department – Commendations Program
The Bone County Sheriff’s Department encourages members of the public, partner agencies, and department personnel to recognize employees who demonstrate exceptional professionalism, integrity, dedication, or service to the community.

Commendations acknowledge actions that exceed normal job expectations and reinforce the Department’s commitment to excellence and public service.

Commendation Submission Process
A commendation for a member of the Bone County Sheriff’s Department may be submitted in any of the following ways:

In person at any Sheriff’s Station
By email or written correspondence to the Internal Affairs Division using the official commendation form provided below

Commendations may be submitted anonymously; however, providing contact information allows the Department to acknowledge receipt or request additional information if needed.

All commendations are reviewed by the Internal Affairs Division and forwarded through the appropriate chain of command.

Types of Commendable Conduct
Commendations may be submitted for, but are not limited to, the following:

Exceptional professionalism or courtesy
Outstanding performance of duty
Acts of bravery or lifesaving actions
Positive community engagement
Service that reflects credit upon the Sheriff’s Department

Review & Recognition Process
Upon receipt, commendations are documented and reviewed by the Professional Standards Bureau. Approved commendations may be:

Entered into the employee’s personnel record
Forwarded to command staff for formal recognition
Considered for departmental awards or letters of commendation

The individual submitting the commendation may be notified upon completion of the review, when appropriate.
